About the Moroccan Sahara and the Erg Chebbi Dunes
South-eastern Morocco is one of the best enduro playgrounds on the planet. Around Merzouga rise the Erg Chebbi dunes, some of them more than 150 metres high, while to the south and west stretch endless hamadas, black volcanic plateaus, dry riverbeds and the smaller dune fields of Ouzina, Ramlia, Erg Znigui and Begaa. This is the same wild terrain the Paris-Dakar Rally once crossed, and it still offers the perfect mix of speed, technique and pure desert scenery.

This tour is designed for riders with previous off-road experience who want a real multi-day Sahara adventure. Several days include technical sections, soft sand and long hours in the saddle. Tour Itinerary: 6-Day Enduro Motorcycle Tour – Morocco Sahara Adventure
DAY 1: Errachidia – Tarda Valley – Gara Medouar – Rissani – Merzouga
Your adventure starts in Errachidia, where you meet your guide, receive your KTM and a full safety briefing. A short asphalt section leads to the beautiful Tarda Oasis, a ribbon of palm groves and mud-brick villages along the valley.
From there the tarmac ends and the desert begins. Fast tracks take you to Gara Medouar, an impressive horseshoe-shaped rock formation rising out of the plain, before you continue towards Rissani, the historic gateway to the Sahara and former caravan town.
The day ends in Merzouga, at the foot of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes, just in time to watch the sunset over the sand.

DAY 2: Merzouga – Taouz – Ouzina Dunes – Ramlia – Tafraout Sidi Ali
Today you head south into the real wilderness. Sandy pistes, rocky plateaus and dry riverbeds lead to the remote village of Taouz, close to the Algerian border, famous for its ancient rock engravings.
You then ride on to the dunes of Ouzina and the small oasis of Ramlia, along tracks once used by the Paris-Dakar Rally. The scenery is huge and empty: black hamada, golden sand and distant mountains. In the late afternoon you reach Tafraout Sidi Ali, a peaceful village in the middle of the desert.

DAY 3: Tafraout Sidi Ali – Oued Ghris – Ramlia Dunes – Ouzina – Jdayd
A full day of technical riding through isolated desert tracks. You follow the wide bed of the Oued Ghris, cross stretches of soft sand and climb through the Ramlia dunes, one of the most rewarding sections of the whole tour.
Along the way you pass authentic Berber villages where life follows the rhythm of the desert. After a true off-road day you arrive in Jdayd for a well-earned dinner and rest.

DAY 4: Jdayd – Begaa Dunes – Erg Znigui – Khamlia – Merzouga
Back towards the north-east, you explore more of the Sahara through the Begaa dunes and the wild landscapes of Erg Znigui, with dry lakes, rocky outcrops and sand plains perfect for open riding.
In the afternoon you visit Khamlia, a small village famous for its traditional Gnawa music, with roots in West Africa. Enjoy the rhythms and a mint tea before the short ride back to Merzouga.

DAY 5: Merzouga Desert Adventure – Erg Chebbi Dunes
A full day dedicated to the Erg Chebbi region, the highlight for every sand lover. Ride through high dunes, hidden tracks and fossil areas where the ground is full of marine fossils from the time this desert was a sea.
You visit nomadic camps, stop for tea with desert families and spend time improving your sand-riding skills with your guide: body position, throttle control, climbing and descending dunes. A perfect day to enjoy the KTM at its best.

DAY 6: Merzouga – Erfoud – Desert Tracks – Errachidia
The final day follows scenic off-road tracks towards Erfoud, the city of dates and fossils. The last kilometres take you through palm groves and wide desert landscapes before you arrive back in Errachidia, where your 6-Day Enduro Motorcycle Tour comes to an end.

Best Time for an Enduro Motorcycle Tour in Morocco
The best season to ride the Moroccan Sahara is from October to April, when daytime temperatures are pleasant for riding. Spring and autumn are ideal. Winter days are sunny and mild but nights in the desert can be cold, so bring a warm layer. Summer (June to August) is very hot and we recommend shorter rides early in the morning.
How to Get to Errachidia
The tour starts and ends in Errachidia, which has its own airport (Moulay Ali Cherif) with connections to Casablanca. You can also reach Errachidia by bus or private transfer from Fes, Marrakech or Ouarzazate. Contact us and we will help you plan your arrival.
